In November 2024, The Economist did a visualization of Elon Musk’s time of day while tweeting. I saw another Twitter user do this with his own historical data export—and since I’m such a big Twitter fan, I had to make my own version as well.

A few notes:

(1) The tweet coverage in 12:00–4:00 AM is somewhat misleading here: it makes my sleep window look like it might only be 4 hours long—the region where there’s little data between 4:00 AM and 8:00 AM. But my sleep schedule has never been consistent, so I just happen to have a lot of night-owl tweets. I assure you that I do get a good night’s sleep of 7–8 hr!

(2) The sparsity in 2011–2012 was when the job was crazy.

(3) 2014–2016 was my heyday of watching movies in NYC.
